Clinical Clerkships
Purpose
To provide community-based education to a variety of health profession students in predominately underserved areas. Students placed this year include, medical students, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students.
What We Do
Oregon Pacific AHEC works to find temporary housing for students on rotation, contacts the students prior to their rotations to let them know something about the area where they’ll be staying. Maps, directions and general orientation are provided. Once the student has arrived, Oregon Pacific AHEC remains in contact with the student and preceptor so that the best possible educational experience can be provided.
What We Hope to Accomplish
Students interested in rural health will be rotating through our underserved areas on a regular basis. The student and the community will enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship. The student will gain insight into rural practice and the community will benefit by having an added health professional in the area, possibly on a permanent basis.
