Medline
This renowned bibliographic data base covers professional literature in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and clinical sciences. More than 8.6 million records are available from over 3800 current biomedical journals.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed
The PubMed system offers fast, simple searching capabilities. No accounts or user ID codes are needed. Through PubMed you can search all of Medline from 1966 through the most current updates.
The Loansome Doc order feature (at the bottom of the page of your search) allows you to order full text articles from among the references you’ve retrieved. Once you set up a Loansome Doc account, your request will automatically be sent to the OHSU Medical Library. If you have a local hospital, you might also check with their library. Many times, medical librarians will order articles for local health care professionals at no charge.
How to use the search engine:
PubMed searches electronic citations directly provided by the publishers of journals. You can use a simple keyword search.
- Enter one or more search terms with quotation marks
- Author names should be entered in the form of "Smith AB"
- Journal titles may be entered in full
- Use AND, OR as logic operators
An example might be "vitamins" AND "common cold"
Oregon Pacific AHEC provides individual or group training sessions, along with technology awareness
programs.
